Trails: Continental Divide
The Shoshone National Forest invited Wyoming Pathways to assist in a new project to construct a missing section of the iconic 3,100-mile Continental Divide National Scenic Trail (CDT) that connects from Canada to Mexico. The new piece is near Brooks Lake, with access off Togwotee Pass, creating a 7-mile downhill ride all the way to Brooks Lake Lodge.
How we helped
In 2021, we planned and built approximately 4 miles of trail linking Togwotee Pass to Brooks Lake. More recently, we completed 1,000 linear feet of trail reroutes between Upper and Lower Jade Lakes as part of the Continental Divide Trail, in partnership with the US Forest Service and Pointe Strategies. The route from Togwotee Pass to Brooks Lake Meadow is now complete with 7 miles of incredible downhill trail! Please be bear aware when exploring this area.
Next steps
We will continue to work with the Shoshone National Forest to inventory current trails and map out/build a trail system that properly links the key areas in this zone for all users. Wondering how to help? Volunteer or donate.
